Shai Hills Forest Reserve is the biggest and closest wild life experience closer to Accra, the capital town of Ghana. It was established in 1962. It has a size of 27 km square area of land. But it was further expanded to 51 km square area of land in1973. The forest reserve has since remained one of the outstanding forest reserve at the outskirt of Accra.
The Shai Hills forest reserve is located on the Tema-Akosombo road, just at the junction of a small little town called, Doryumu. It is approximately 50 km north east of Accra, found in the Shai Osudoku District and hence its name, Shai Hills Forest Reserve.
The forest reserve is covered with evergreen forest land and savannah, providing the most suitable environment for wild animals to move freely and hang around. There are over 13 reptiles, 31 mammals and 175 bed species in the reserve. It houses animals such as monkeys, tortoise, crocodiles, pythons and variety of other animal species.
The forest reserve also contains archeological remains of settlements at the place during the pre-colonial era of Ghana. Some of these things are the caves the people dwelt in and many others. The three main caves there are namely, Adwuku, Sayu and Hawiewuyu.

- Adult Foreign (non-volunteer)….GH¢ 5.00
