Ghana National Farmer’s Day is a republic holiday in Ghana.

It is a day set aside every year to celebrate and commemorate farmers for their hard work of producing goods to feed the entire country. During Ghana National Farmer’s Day there is a grand durbar hosted in any chosen region of the country.

At the Ghana National Farmer’s Day, all farmers—crop, fishing, livestock and people who play a vital role in the agribusiness sector— are celebrated. Since Ghana celebrated independence, the agric-sector of the economy has been the largest source of foreign exchange.

Agriculture is the driving force of growth in Africa, not just Ghana. It provides raw materials for industries, factories and a source of livelihood for many people. The agricultural sector is responsible for about 65% of Africa’s labor force, accounting for 32% of the gross domestic product (GDP).

On Ghana National Farmer’s Day, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Ghana, gives special wards to farmers who have played vital roles in the country’s agricultural output. Awards are given to the best crop farmers, fish farmers and livestock farmers. Policies are further strengthened to make the Agricultural sector of the country stronger and stronger.

This year’s Ghana National Farmer’s Day comes off on 7th December, 2018. Looking to enjoy your agric-tourism and have fun? Get in touch with us at Frimprince Transport Services.
