Being a first timer on a travel can be very frustrating, especially when you are a foreigner. Have found myself in such situation on some few occasions, and the experience was not very pleasant?

Are you a first time traveler in Ghana? Do you want some tour advice to help you get your way around? Well, here are five tour advice for first time travelers in Ghana

Plan and Prepare Very Well

If you are a first time traveler, it will be advisable if you do a lot of research and get information before arriving. With the internet making things easier, getting information should not be much of a head ache. From weather, transport, accommodation, tour sites, locations and places etc., all this information can be accessed on the internet. Plan on how you would spend your time here, places to visit, where you would want to lodge, means of transport etc.

Contact a Tour Agency

If you are a first time traveler in Ghana, we would advise you contact a tour agency or travel agency to sort you out. They can help you out with accommodation, transport, sites or places you want to visit, for a reasonable fee. This would make your travel stress free and give you more time to do other things.

Health Awareness

You must protect yourself from health related issues like Malaria, HIV-AIDS which are on the rise.  It is preventable if you take very good care of yourself and take the necessary precautions. First time travelers in Ghana are advised to take injections against some diseases like influenza and rabbis before travelling. Having some anti-malaria drugs would also be good. Take care of your health it matters.

 Be careful with Your Camera

In some areas in Ghana, like The Embassies, Flag Staff House and Some Chief’s Palaces, photographs are not allowed to be taken, with or without permission. Also it may sound offensive to take pictures of local people without their permission or notice. So to be on the safe side, for first time travelers, always be sure taking photograph is not going to offend people or seek permission before taking photographs of people and places.

Be Security Conscious

Crime in Ghana is not high like it is in some other African countries or other parts of the world.  I would caution first time travelers, to be very alert and careful.  Pick-pockets, scammers and thieves are on the streets and can take advantage of you.  Avoid show off, or avoid being seen with lots of money. If possible, carry less cash as much as possible and avoid carrying or showing off expensive gadgets.

So there you have it, tour advice for first time travelers in Ghana.
