Lake Bosomtwe: The Beauty of Ghana’s Natural Lake

Lake Bosomtwe is the only natural lake in the Ashanti region. Lake Bosomtwe is located about 30 km south-east of Kumasi, the regional capital. Lake Bosomtwe measures about 10.5 km in diameter and has a surface area of about 49 km2.   The only source of its water is rainfall. Lake Bosomtwe was formed as a result of a meteorite impact on the earth surface. It is an impact crater filled with water. The lake, Bosomtwi is estimated to be 1.07 million years old (Pleistocene period). Lake Bosomtwe is considered sacred by the Ashanti people. The Ashanti people believe the souls of the dead come to the Lake Bosomtwe, to bid farewell to the Asase Yaa (Mother earth). The name “bosom” means god, and “otwe” means antelope. So Lake Bosomtwe means antelope god. The Lake Bosomtwe was given its name, by a hunter, by the name Akora Bompe from Asaman. He discovered the lake, whiles hunting for an antelope. The injured antelope disappeared into a small pond of water. Legend says the hunter never caught the antelope, he decided to settle close to the water and started fishing.   About thirty villages surrounds the coastline of the Lake Bosomtwe. Each village in the lake area has its own shrine or fetish groove. There is also the “Abrodwum” stone, which is believed to be the spiritual center of the lake. It is actually a bad omen for one to go fishing in this area and get a low catch. When this happens the lake people sacrifice a cow, in the presence of his majesty, the Asantehene who takes part in the celebration. Lake Bosomtwe is one of the cool and nice place to relax and hang around in the Ashanti region. It is a popular recreational place. Go there on a holiday, and you can be sure to find a large crowd there. One can also go for a boat ride, for a swim or go hiking into the hills around the lake and surrounding villages. Another interesting fact, about the Lake Bosomtwe is that, it is a taboo to touch the surface of the lake with an iron or a metal, and modern boats are not allowed on the lake surface. Fishermen who fish on the Bosomtwe lake use a large plank of wood, called “padua” to fish on the lake. They normally sit on top and use their hands or plates to propel themselves.   Interested in renting a car for your business and personal engagements in Ghana? When are you  planning to rent the car? Things to Avoid When Renting a Car

Top 7 Things to Avoid When Renting a Car

Renting a car has become one of the cool things to do when one needs the convenience of moving himself about. Renting a car offers a far more luxury to go where you want to go, to control your time and move about the where your schedule demands! However, whether you’re renting a car for a business trip, vacation trip or running corporate errands, you have to play by the rules. You have to know that there are some things to avoid when renting a car so that you will make it uneasy for the rental company as a well as avoid plunging yourself into serious criminal issues. Below are top 10 things to avoid when renting a car. 1. Avoid Renting A Car for Criminal Purposes Some people are just very wicked—they have a wicked genius—and all that they plan about is how to do wicked things. So they go and pay a hefty amount of money to rent a car for armed robbery, theft and many other dangerous. You need to desist from these practices. 2. Avoid Smoking and Living Extravagantly in a Rented Car It seems that the reason many people aren’t able to own a car is because of their lifestyle. They can’t take care of themselves, so they tend to take care of other people’s property very badly. They smoke, drink and have sex in rented cars—and as well do all kinds of nasty things. All these are very cruel!!! 3. Avoid Renting a Rented Car to a Third Party It’s amazing! People are very funny. How can you rent a car from a company and then re-rent that car to another people. What covering and legal qualifications do you have that mandates you to rent the car to a third party? 4. Avoid Selling A Rented Car to a Another Person It’s a pity what people can really do? How can you rent a car a car and then go and sell the car to another person? How can you do that? That’s another form of human wickedness and it is really amazing. But people rent cars, sell the cars and run into hiding! 5. Avoiding Carelessly Driving a Rented Car Some people simply do not have any sense of integrity and uprightness within them. They think because they have paid for the rented vehicle, they have the right to drive it any way they like. Mind you—if everybody was driving the car carelessly—would you get the opportunity to come and rent it. 6. Avoiding Returning a Rented Car Empty Most car rental firms often rent cars with the tank full. They fill the tank and make it easy for their clients to go on their trip. So you’re expected to return the car back with the tank full. But it is really amazing how some people can behave—they return the car with an empty tank, looking at the face of the car rental manager! 7. Avoiding Allowing Inexperience Drivers to Drive the Car Another thing people do when they rent a car is to allow their friends and colleagues—who perhaps might be inexperienced in driving to drive them. You may think you are doing the car rental firm—but in reality— you are jeopardizing your life. The car rental company may lose their car in the event of accidents, but as for you, you get to lose your life! So avoid negligence and carelessness! 8. Avoid Renting the Car Late Some people rent a car for a week and they return the car in two weeks. They sort of think of the car as their private vehicle—so they want to use it as much as you want. What you get is penalties, charges and a lot of queries. The goo thing is to always stick to your agreement. 9. Avoid Dropping Off the Car at Inappropriate Places It’s quite wonderful. When you wanted to rent the car, you knew where to go.  But when you are done with the car, you don’t know where to drop off the car. Some people are just unpredictable. You must learn to drop off your rental car at the right place and right time. 10. Avoid Returning the Car in Very Bad Condition We all know things can happen. But you always have to be on your guard so that you can always minimize the risks. By being careful, prudent and thoughtful you can avoid returning your rented vehicle in very bad state like dirtiness or functions of the car not working in appropriately!
